Plenty of great advice on this thread for treating skin fungus. Personally what has worked over the years has been plenty of swimming in the ocean. The salt on the skin seems to heal after a good exfoliation from the swim. Also baby powder the festerd area after helps the itching and or crave to scrach.
Really if the problem persists or becomes very sensitive or difficult to heal, you should go see a doctor. Make sure it is not an infection or worse, staph. Antibiotics may not be the first thing you want to turn to as you may feel like your body should be able to heal itself. Unfortunately here in the tropics these types of infections are common, yet not always treatable with over the counter methods. An oral antibiotic taken and completed with the proper skin cream usually will stop the progression of the worst cases. Should take less than 15 minutes to see a doctor, cost no more than $100 for the needed cream and antibiotic. Sometimes its better to be safe than sorry, hope it heals quickly.
P.S. Aloe can work wonders on the scabs or scars afterwards.

I reckon there's only 1 reason for baby powder- it absorb moisture. I even sprinkle it on wet floor to absorb water. Then the problem is gotta sweep up the powder. That's why gotta rotate the cap on the powder container or else going clump up like dry mustard.

Target has the best price I seen for baby powder. My theory is Target try to differentiate from Walmart by "targeting" women shoppers since women furnish the home. Which is marketing device that unfortunately leave them in 2nd place in a diy kind place like Puna.

Does anyone know a good homeopathic remedy for toenail fungus? Frau Chunkster seems to have come home from a dodgy Honolulu pedicure with it. Now that she has read the side effects, she doesn't want to take the meds the doctor prescribed. Even our little nature-loving Chunkchen has chimed in with, "Oh no, Mutti, the medicine will eat your liver." There's probably a plot for a horror movie lurking somewhere in this Teutonic saga, but any advice would be appreciated.

I had a stubborn fungal infection about a year ago,In private area, Probably due to sweating and being moist all day. I used MG217 shampoo in the shower and Tinactin spray. Killed it in about a week or so.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

A couple of things to bear in mind - first, a lot of the general, minor problems like haole rot and dandruff are caused by overgrowth of things that are always present, so you're never going to truly get rid of them. In certain cases it's actually possible to make them worse with antifungals by eliminating the things that keep them under control naturally, so that they're the only things left (and they've developed resistance to some things because they're targeted so often).

Second, some things that look like fungal infections may not be. I had a persistent skin rash of raised bumps on my fingers that looked just liked a fungal attack, but would never go away. Finally, after a period when for some reason I went a month without eating vegetables, I discovered that it was actually an allergy to lettuce! Since then this thing I had for almost 20 years went away completely, though it can start to come back if I eat lettuce for about three days in a row.

As far as a homeopathic remedy - bathwater, diluted 20C, should be appropriate.

Miconazole or Clotrimazole are good remedies for most kinds of skin fungi, according to our docs and a couple of pharmacists. Heat rashes gone bad, jock itch, ringworm, etc. Buy it cheapest in the women's yeast infection size (miconazole). If you have a fungus, you should get relief w/in a couple of days, ime (with a lot of dogs and a wet/humid environment on the coast, I'm prone to ringworm. My preferred go-to is Miconazole. My husband uses that and Clotrimazole for athlete's foot and jock itch. Those cremes work wonders). Keeping clean and dry, is, of course, a good idea to hopefully keep it at bay. If you get it as athlete's foot, have at least 2 pairs of shoes that you rotate them on alternate days if you're in a dry enough climate that they have a chance to dry (and you're not just wearing flip-flops :-) ).
