TMT Scoping Meeting in Puna

Here it is.....your chance to voice your opinion regrading the Thirty Meter Telescope. To be held on October 15 at Pahoa High School Cafeteria from 5-8 pm.

An Environmental Impact Statement Preparation Notice (EISPN) / Environmental Assessment (EA) for the above-referenced project has been prepared pursuant to the EIS law (Hawai'i Revised Statutes, Chapter 343) and the EIS rules (Hawai'i Administrative Rules, Title 11, Chapter 200). An electronic version of the document is available for download. The document is also available at libraries throughout Hawai'i.
Comments on the EISPN/EA are welcome, including your views on the project, view or information related to the project site, and key issues or criteria that should be addressed in the Draft EIS. Notice of this EISPN/EA appeared in the Environmental Notice on September 23, 2008; therefore, the comment period will close on October 23, 2008.

Please provide comments using the methods below:

1. Complete a comment form on the Participate page of the project website at www.TMT-HawaiiEIS.org/participate/

2. Mail your comments to the address listed below:

Ka'û, Oct. 13 (Mon), Ka'û High/Pahala Elementary School Cafeteria, 5-8pm
Hilo, Oct. 14 (Tue), Keaukaha Elementary School Cafeteria, 6-9pm
Puna, Oct. 15 (Wed), Pahoa High School Cafeteria, 5-8pm
Honolulu, Oct. 16 (Thr), Neal S. Blaisdell Center Pîkake Room, 5-9pm

I added a Poll at the top of my blog that is wielding some interesting results.

The option to build this in Chile has always been on the table.Although it is my understanding the backers of this project want it built on Mauna Kea.

Perhaps you missed the Scoping meeting in Hilo? Here's an updated link to some video from 2008 - the arguments over jobs, religion, education, and culture should sound familiar even if you weren't paying attention then.
