At a national and international level you are probably right, but at the local level they do a lot of great work that no one else does.

At the percentage of what goes where for every dollar contributed you are probably right on target Punaticbychoice, but if you have a staff of 50, and donations only allow for 4 employees you can kind of see where the top heaviness is when not needed.
I will say, though, the classes and certifications they have available is priceless in my eyes when medical help is scarce and far away. Basic First Aid and CPR as soon as they can learn it goes a great distance in a time of emergency, as many can self treat if they know the basics, excepting CPR of course!

If a disaster strikes and someone can provide you with medical or other assistance, the last question you're going to ask is "did you get trained by those corrupt thieves at the Red Cross?"

Baseless accusation. They have one of the better records for putting money where it will help.

Their track record in Haiti was pretty abysmal: https://www.propublica.org/article/how-t...lt-6-homes

What I don't like about the Red Cross is how they mislead people into donating blood. I always thought if I donated blood I was DONATING blood. The Red Cross takes that donated blood and SELLS it to cover things like executive salaries. The blood is just a commodity they resell to finance their operations.
