The Castle House - Kalapana Seaview Estates
#1
Does anyone know what the current status of the Castle House is? What group is living/renting there, etc.?

This one:

John's holding court. As for who else, it's the whim of the fates.

John was arrested again Friday. I say again because it's something like the third time in recent months. Sign on the gate of driveway says "closed until further notice". The lava's impact on vacation rentals down here made castle John's former wife leave, then John moved back in. That place has been a mess since she left. At first it was teenagers and rowdy parties. For quite awhile it caused a clean up of the chronic homeless of Pahoa town (they all came and stayed at the castle). Now it appears to be a group home for the chronic mentally ill. Police cars are there often. No power there for months but there's now a generator running. The house of cards burned down so it appears we have a new eyesore taking the place.

Big difference between being mentally ill and being a total loser.

Apparently "the Castle" was also a relay point for Aloha Broadband, so some of their customers have also been impacted by the "instability".

(The insult-to-injury angle: Telcom infrastructure is being held hostage by a landowner in that area, so they're unable to install much of anything...)

Mahalo for the replies, and it is of concern that I asked.

One of our ohana (nephew) who is EMT, and one that is HCPD (cousin), has been called there several times over the past two-three weeks. The type of calls are not "manini", but rather serious.

You can listen on the scanner; heard a few calls myself.

We don't need another pock mark in Puna, and hopefully, the type of people who are prompting these calls are given help they need, or notice to leave. Sometimes (well, most often), this kind of behavior is not good for any community. It's beyond acceptable for our Puna, specifically, Kalapana.

How can we help get this place back to being "safe" for the neighborhood? Any suggestions?

Thank you again. Just very concerned.

JMO.

This is all being planned out. Hospital closes mental wing, downtown Hilo has too many homeless. Get them on Heleon going south. Castle House looks like an old style mental asylum. Set up free food scams by diverting food for needy families from food banks to prepared meals for all "patients". Get the word out the Puna asylum has plenty of openings, free shelter, free food and totally drugged out sex orgies, with a beautiful view of the "natural" Hawaii, untainted by evil technologies and corporations. The county and the state has the solution they were looking for, a place to send the destitute, mentally ill and totally deranged. Major problem solved. High fives all the way around, slap Ruderman on the back and mahalo for the idea.

"Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!"

Thanks for the scanner link. Someone just reported a rock being thrown at their rental car near Kehena. Obviously done by someone mentally ill....

The drive by shootings earlier, in the area where the population is shifting, west ya know.....just normal stuff, normal people.

Maybe some sort of a writ of mandamus that would force the DA's office to investigate and prosecute ice dealers, and then shut down drug houses and other venues they operate out of? That would be a start.
