The Castle House - Kalapana Seaview Estates
#11
Why was Castle John arrested?
It's sad. He seemed to be on the right track and was making money a few years ago.
The castle was a good place for young people. Transients.
Then He changed after the wife left...Drastically.
He was always a nice guy to me...
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Definitely sounds like one of the weirder situations of lower puna. Mental illness, homeless people, aloha broadband. All par for the lower puna course.

If making money with a scam raffle of his own house is being "on the right track", then I guess he was doing OK. I would have rather seem him convicted and jailed for scamming all those people with his phony raffle.

Sure. Just as soon as someone gets prosecuted for the "subdivision raffle" and/or the "building permit raffle".

From their blog page:

BONUS: There will also be a BONUS winner of another free stay (7 nights, 8 days!) IF
a person is responsible for securing FREE NATIONAL media attention/free publicity on the Castle (i.e. a “piece” of at least one-two minutes on a national TV program such as GMA, The Today Show, CNN, etc.).

From the posts above, it sounds like they'd be lucky to get a segment on Cops, True Crime, or Investigation Discovery.

It was the wife who created the lottery and other "deals". John has the castle now for 3 yrs, declared the divorce judge when the wife Sherry was busted for numerous infractions of the divorce agreement and lying to the court. She is quite the piece of work, a very dangerous person IMO.

With a restraining order she ousted him from the castle, sold all his tools, he was a contractor of sorts, a devout mormon and super sweet guy who could not work without his tools. He slipped into a terrible depression and then made a brilliant choice of joining the rainbow crowd in his senior years and popping acid daily.

In a state of drug induced mental illness or damage, he now has the castle for 3 years and then the property division will take place. It is owned by his parents however Sherry claims her money went into it. So hopefully it will be sold to better neighbors.

These two wrote the book on dysfunctional.

Wow, didn't know about the bad.
Acid popping?
What year is it?
He certainly looks the part though.
Too bad. He's still got a good heart. Head's a little screwed up.

Yes he means well. John refers to the castle as an addict healing center only, however it's more of party house for young heavy drug users who take advantage of him saying they are there for drug rehab. Hence all the fights and police presence. He's not all there anymore.

Tell the parent of a daughter that stayed there he has a good heart or means well. Makes no sense. This behavior is the opposite of that. What one espouses (total BS btw, transparently so) plays a minor role when compared to what one does, whom he associates with etc.
