i did not recognize the road , it was over grown with weeds, foliage and holes ,rough horrible

If your lot isn't reachable via D, then you don't have to drive on D Road. Problem solved.

I drove from one end of the subdivision to the other and didn't recognize the road either. Lots of pavement, power poles, mail boxes, and neatly trimmed lawns........It wasn't until I saw the lady walking her poodle that I realized I was in Leilani Estates......[:0]

yes that is definitely not Hawaiian acres. and leilani estates has one of the nicest best maintained community centers.

hawaiian acres community association board members can not even hold a proper meeting, they showed up and then walked out . going on 6 months and still no financial reports but..........they still manage to hold their parties at the center.

I think a financial report would be required on a yearly basis ,, mailed to out of town folks and a copy ,, free to all the local paid members . pick it up at the office ,,, simple and period !

On road 8 today we noticed that a lot was recently bulldozed on the mauka side between C and D - the lot in question is a major river when there is a deluge of over 10 inches in 24 hours. They dozed the river and the culvert under road 8 is now totally blocked and when it rains hard with over 10 inches in 24 hours, this section of road 8 will be impassable or washed away entirely . I do not think they know the potential hazard they have created .
Also at power pole number 8 close to the front ,the new residents of that lot, have dug up the lawn area which is actually the road lot itself and planted large clumps of areca palm clumps outside their chain link fence in the road lot itself.
They are turning their front lawn into a vehicle junk yard .
Looks oh so wonderful. Great landscapers .

mimosa is an old timer, been here forever, i know what he is talking about with the river , when the rain is pouring road 8 will become a lake . but water will push thru the clogged mess and that property owner will experience some major water flow into his property. people that are new to the area should ask neighbors before massive bulldozing ,
the areca palms , i think he planted those because a car ran off the road and plowed into his fence , so i guess he is putting a buffer between his house and the road . i cant blame him , anyway it is hawaiian acres......

K Joe - Road 8 is designated an emergency access road from lower puna to Hwy 11.
During times when the Kea'au - Pahoa hwy is not passable - this is a major alt access through puna .
In the 1999 - 2000 flood it was pretty washed out everywhere, even rd 8.But the culvert where these folks bulldozed by the wilsons on the kalapana side and jake across street handled easily the huge white water river as it was washing out down by jeffs place past the community center .
Joe,this subject thread is about problems that are in Hawaiian Acres. We been residents since 1960 in H.A.
This current issue with these peoples land clearing affects any one in puna who may need an access road alternate in times of flooding.
As we see it,as this culvert is now totally clogged up,the water when we do get a gully washer, will have no where to flow and could possibly impact lot owners as far down the hill as orchidland.
Do you live in Hawaiian Acres K Joe or ever drive on Road 8 ?
Just wondering .
