Well the County is finally catching up. One of the building inspectors is now a plan checker, so instead of taking 8-10 weeks, permits are now being issued after about 3-4 weeks. We were shocked when they called and said one was ready after 3 weeks!

That is good news. Hopefully they're getting more field inspectors for phase inspections too.

just heard on the radio, the building dept is putting a hold on all projecst for the next week to free up inspectors to look at the damage from the earthquakes. So , if you are waiting for an inspection (elec, framing, plumbing, anything) or a permit, please realize that it will now take a little longer. (Added Wed AM - This was on the Civil Defense report & stated that the entire dept would be working on the earthquake building inspections, and to please be advised of the at least one week delay in all aspects of Building Inspection and Permitting)

I guess knowing the workings of the building department, plan checking and inspecting are two different aspects... but maybe the plan checkers who previously were inspectors were called to inspect...
We got a permit in 12 days about 2 weeks ago... I was amazed... not holding my breath for it happening again though!
