The Great Spirit
#21
Hey, 007, would you prefer I delete this thread as the OP?

Please, if this thread is "racist", that was not the intent. The interpretation is left to each individual, however, the purpose of this thread was for a more positive light, (given the crap that is spewed here lately).

Amazing the responses on this "new wave" of PW, no matter the subject. SMH. My post does belong here, as much as any of yours (for the record, I find some of your posts enlightening, yet, sometimes cutting). At this point, I don't even read half the comments on this forum. Too oxygen sucking.

Let me know if you want me to delete it, but my na'au tells me not to. It was not "racist" in intent. At all. In fact, I'm going back to practicing a few things on the list.

This continued banter is really counterproductive. BTW, 007, there are many who live in Puna of Native/American Indian decent. To suggest this thread doesn't belong, is almost as bad as "go back where you came from".

What is "aloha"? Sometimes many of us lose focus in trying to maintain "aloha". Term used too loosely, especially in Puna.

Friendly reminder:

Going to pray to the "Great Spirit" of our culture for guidance and strength, patience and protection. Especially patience.

Have a good evening all. Life is short. (Thanks, 007, for the extra "self imposed time out". Carry on.)

JMO.

PW seems pretty homogeneous to me. It's people that tell others to shut up and go back to where they came from that tends to feed anger. In the meantime people seem to have the freedom to say what they want here, no matter how much it upsets you.

PS. BTW, Opihkao, I don't think this was a racist thread at all, but some want to make it one. We don't all share the same thoughts or ideologies, but there should be no barrier to you or I saying what we think or believe in. There should, on the other hand, be no barrier to those questioning those beliefs, opinions or facts. That some do is fine, but some take it too far and that's why we are in troubled times.

It's as appropriate as chat issues from the KKK. They too vehemently believe in everything they espouse regarding racial issues and privilege, surely they have a similar codes of conduct and such. Does that discussion belong here on PW? I don't know. There are lots of racial groups here including the Japanese or Filipino Chamber of commerce. Discuss their issues here too? Seems more appropriate amongst themselves. JMHO.

Why don't you let the moderator of the this forum decide what is and isn't appropriate, or go start your own forum where you get to decide what other people can post, instead of trying to micromanage this one.

Now you pissed me off enough to jump into this blossoming dog fight 007. I am a proud Portagee mutt Haole who seems to follow 90% of the list that Opihikao wrote, as it is just common sense on how to live a stress free, for the most part, life these days by having integrity, pride, and most of all respect for yourself and other beings on this huge rock of a planet, let alone this tiny rock outcropping on it.
It really doesn't matter where it came from (Native American, Polynesion, the Bible, whatever) it all comes down to the right path to follow by all for a peaceful existence free of racism and the associated violence. The "do unto others as you would do unto you" and respectful manners are all on that list, plus quite a few others if you read between the lines.

Edit to add: blew number eight, going to take a walk and release the bad energy.

I don't know why stating that a particular culture has some valuable wisdom gets certain people in a tizzy. All cultures and people have a unique value in this world and unique well of wisdom to share. To share that wisdom doesn't imply superiority but to react with negative emotions towards someone sharing wisdom signifies an inferiority complex and/or some kind of cultural egotism on the part of the pissed off individual. Take a deep breath people there is no threat in sharing wisdom.

My husband is part Cherokee. He traces his lineage back to the Trail of Tears. This coming year, we are going to have an extended exploration of some of these areas of his heritage. I am looking forward to it!

I love that you posted Opihikao!

Hate to nit-pick such fine sentiments, but there are over 500 tribes of North American Indians, and they all have their own cultures and values. Traditional Comanches, for example, would have taken issue with items 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,12,13,14,and 17, at a minimum. (For details on that fun-loving bunch, I heartily recommend reading "Empire of the Summer Moon").

Shockwave, I answered a question from Opihikao.

If some of you can try to see the bigger picture here, us/them, racially based topics are not wise currently unless you think TMT protesting is good thing. Keeps the misinformation and grudges going strong.
