How to Get Cable to Another Room Without Oceanic

Please, please, please...Does anyone know about these new fangled things that are antennas that pick up TV on the HDTV, and have a special antenna (looks like a flat piece of plastic that we used to roll dough on...kinda thing...ugh!)????

We have a house from the 1920's and don't want to drill holes for the bloody cable thing. For $9.00-$295.00 (yeah, wide range!) you can get this antenna that searches 25-50 miles for signal. What about us over here in Hawai'i? Does it work?

Depends on where you're located in proximity of the tower. So, those TV ads are garbage!! . But, you can also make one at home, I did.. Staple copper wire looped on 1 side of a stick, 4-8 loops (S fashion not touching its self) and another equally looped on other side, none touching each other, fashion one wire to the ground side of cable wire, (outside mesh), and another to center wire, and wala! That's all those 9-50 dollar things have inside em..

Unless you meant, a transceiver antenna?? that sends you cable to another room; Search Google for other home-made examples. ,

Otherwise, a transceiver simply sends your cable signal to a receiver in the other room and cheapness will likely restrict the distance they'll send it. like a cordless phone.

As Jeffhale said, the stations you can receive depends on your location.
I'm in HPP and receive an excellent signal from ABC, Fox, K5, & PBS with an antenna.

I am not sure, but I think OP wants to get OTA channels in an isolated room?

KJ, we have the cable (basic), just wanted to see if there is a way to "extend" the signal, or whatever it's called. Or, now I'm seeing that an antenna can pick up the HD channels, not necessarily the Oceanic cable channels.

When I had dish network installed ages ago, I had them wire it to every room of the house (except bathroom and kitchen). Then when I got rid of dish about 5 years sgo, I bought an indoor amplified hdtv antenna for $50.00 at radio shack, disconnected the cable running to the outside dish and connected it to the indoor hdtv antenna. Now I have OTA hdtv in every room. I live in lower HPP and get 12 hdtv stations
