Accident on Rt. 11. 6:30PM Sat.

Did anyone witness or even hear about the accident last night by the turn thru on the Hilo side of the detention center? It involved a large truck and vehicle? We were heading to Hilo and only heard it. Sounded like the truck was pulling out to head South and a vehicle slammed it to at Hwy speed. Sounded dreadful. We called it in to 911 but never heard about it today.

I passed the highway 11 and the Kileaua merge around that time and traffic came to a complete stop for a few minutes. When It started moving again I saw a Dark in color Suv or Crossover type vehicle slammed backwards in the rock outcropping just past the lama street intersection, it sustained heavy front end damage, looked like the air bags deployed. It had people attending to the driver and about 150 yards past the cars was a large green tourist bus, I believe it said Polynesian Tours on the bus that was on the side of the road slightly in the right lane. I turned on the scanner to hear both the car and bus were involved. No injuries the arriving officers said over the scanner. By the looks of the wreck that seemed like a miracle!
