"I'm curious, do you mark Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander on government census forms too?"

So you direct this to my "racial" mix background personally? I find it curious that you would presume to know that here. Or do you believe that race determines what viewpoints people have?

If semantic tap dance is the game, I could pull a dakine and provide the first definition for "native" that came up...

na·tive
noun
a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.

But I'm not a big fan of semantic jousting. I'd rather get to heart of the matter.

So what do you think of the "native/indigenous" ethnic German self-governing movement I hypothetically proposed in my previous post?

This is a viewpoint I am inclined to share as the most productive and meaningful in the contemporary world.

You googled the definition for "native" however forgot to include the "Hawaiian" part. I am certain you are aware of the fact that Hawaiian is an ethnicity much like being German or Irish is? So yes, being born in Hawaii may make that person native TO Hawaii however, that still does not make that person a Native Hawaiian. If your mind cannot grasp that concept than I really cannot help you further.

With regard to your question on German self governing, I do not reside there nor have I ever visited but if I did decide to, I would not consider myself to be of German ethnicity nor would I take it upon myself to determine how their indigenous people should choose to be governed.

I did not presume to know your ethnicity however you seemed to be quite stuck on the "born and raised here makes everyone a Native Hawaiian" falsehood that I felt needed correction. On a friendly note, and maybe it is unintended, however your posts seem a tad bit aggravated making your attitude seem akin to a disgruntled worker. I do hope you are well and wish you a day filled with sunshine Smile

Why is it the "White People" are being blamed. No one says what the Chinese & And Japanese did to the Hawaiians. After they left the plantations. Very shrewd business people.

Perhaps a better question would be what is it with the categorical blame-game / victimization according to so-called race in Hawaii 2015 in the first place. To further highlight any inane fixation on race in modern day Hawaii is the fact that it's mostly mixed among multi-generation locals anyway.

p.s. Has the season finally changed? Sure feels like it over the past few days up mauka. Little bit chilly even.

All this focus on what makes people different, rather than what makes us similar, is why this species is headed towards a self-inflicted extinction. As Albert Einstein said, “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”

Not just those. It isn't due to any white supremacy clubs. There are multiple events where over 99% that show up are white haole. Or when it is noticeable there is a local attending, not racism but a brown spot or two in a sea of white. One example is Big Island Film Festival, all the technology and science presentations, Puna Porno Alliance gatherings, business and commerce conventions. This isn't racism, it is a gigantic cultural gap. Whites refuse to understand the Hawaiian culture, the Hawaiian culture doesn't see anything for them in white culture, especially a government of white people for white people that has lied and cheated them for a couple hundred years. There is some cross culture agreement and transfer but not much.

"Aloha also means goodbye. Aloha!"

Damn. I said I was not going to respond to another racist post.

I just love your reasoning, "whites refuse to understand the Hawaiian culture" while "Hawaiians don't see anything for them in white culture". Amazing.

"especially a government of white people for white people".

I never knew Kenoi was a white person, Ige must be celtic or german. Same with Akaka, Inouyse, Hunabusa, Gabbard, Waihee, Cayetono, Kim.

Lets look at all our white elected leaders.
Obama - dark white.
Ige - clearly german
Tsutsui - german again?
Akaka - Scottish?
Hirono - Welsh?
Takai - german again?
Schataz - WHITE PERSON!
Gabbard - welsh?
Kenoi - clearly a generic white person
Dru Mamo Kanuha - white hawaiian?
Valerie T. Poindexter - unknown
Aaron Chung - welsh again?
Maile Medeiros David - dutch?
Karen Eoff - Looks whitish..
Greggor Ilagan - french?
Dennis “Fresh” Onishi - french?
Daniel K. Paleka, Jr. - irish?
Margaret Wille - has to be white.

All those darn white politicians.

white people that has lied and cheated them for a couple hundred years.

This has been repeated over and over and though I would address it. Care to tell us all those lies and cheats. I will say there has been a lot of dishonesty and disrespect shown, but we might not agree one which side. Why does TMT need to be stopped again?

There will always be what is considered disrespect to the Hawaiians because they don't speak with 1 voice. Imagine thousands of voices all at odds and trying to work with that, knowing that whatever gets decided will show disrespect to someone.

Let me give you an example.

Reply to this post, if you don't i will consider it disrespectful
My wife says, don't reply to this post, if you don't listen to my wife, I will consider it disrespectful.

Regardless of what you will do, you have already disrespected me.

I don't think Ted was talking about local politics. The funny part of his post was the Puna Porno Alliance.
