This just in:
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/30543...nstruction
Not only do we have some of the poorest performing schools in the country and arguably the lowest intelligence level, we have now delayed again the TMT which will help all of mankind to ask and answer some of the greatest questions ever devised by humans. All because of some questionably held beliefs in deities. Ugh!

Great News!
I might rewrite your statement though. From my perspective it would read:
Obviously a clear indication of the seriousness with which the Court is considering the matter, and, one can hope, an indication of when one might expect their decision in the matter.

Why rewrite another person's words? You could just make your own statement if you disagree, it comes across as very disrespectful to revise another person's words to change the meaning to one you agree with.

The question remains as whether this order will, or should, prevent maintenance to the vehicles on Mauna Kea that are leaking fuel. How can both sides not agree those fixes are worth doing?

If I were the TMT people... I would say enough is enough....and build the telescope in Chile where the people and the government welcome it.

It didn't offend me personally, since I wasn't the original writer, but it really comes across as a "I'm right and you are wrong so I changed your words for you" level of aggression. This issue already has enough of that obscuring any honest debate of the issues.

I haven't jumped into this morass before, but it's so aggravating that here on this island we allow silly superstition to supersede science, put voodoo nonsense over knowledge. It's like ISIS is winning here .

As I understand it, the question is not whether the state supreme court subscribes to the religious tenets of the TMT opponents, but whether our utterly inept state government strictly followed the permitting process. It all hinges on technicalities in that process. Given that they are ordering no work to be proceed, I think there is a good chance they might require a significant portion of the permitting to be redone. It won't mean the thing can never be built, but it would probably be a significant delay. Like Makuu222, I wonder why the TMT folks even bother with the morass that is the Hawaii state government. Chile must be looking better every day.

There's one critical keyword in the headline < "Temporarily"
Read the headline without that word and it becomes something else completely.
Classic Bait and switch politics
Get em' all riled up then wait till things cool down.
An den SURPRISE!
In the meantime Construction actually continues remotely.
They're polishing the mirrors now.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.
