unverifiable address
#1
This happens sometimes, today it was FedEx Delivery Manager.
I enter my address on Road 1, and the software doesn't accept it as a valid address. I tried all the variations I could think of: 'uhini ana, uhini ana, road 1, 1 road, road one, one road...nothing worked.

How does this work, anyway? Is our area labeled on maps "uninhabitable" or "here there be dragons"?

Just to be clear: FedEx doesn't usually have trouble delivering to my house, it's just this program that's supposed to allow me to schedule deliveries when I'll be home.

"here there be dragons"

Private dragons. They eat roads.

It sounds to me like they are scrubbing your address against the universal USPS address database. If you don't have USPS service, your address isn't in the database.

Oh. Kind of like Miracle on 34th Street--if the Post Office says you're real...

I think FedEx knows Road 1 well and they don't want to destroy their trucks by trying to drive on it. Pretend they can't find it. Problem solved.

I have come across the "unverifiable address" occasionally too. Usually it then works if I remove the - use 131234 instead of 13-1234.
