While leaving the mainland, it was amazing to meet people in Washington and Oregon that had lived in Hawaii in the 80's. Dozens of people in different jobs associated with leaving the mainland, storage employees, different people living in their storage room during the day, moving employees, neighbor with window washing business, real estate agent, hotel, financial, other services. And it was pretty obvious they were all involved in the marijuana business back in the 80's.

Hawaii island had an income approaching $1 billion per year from marijuana growth and exporting in the 80's. That was cash flowing into this island. Everybody here knows the 900 pound purple dragon blowing smoke out of its nostrils is in the room, but it has to be danced around to ridiculous extremes. Just all part of the LOL!

Thank you Ted, well said. It appears some cannot read well unless they actually lived the setting. I am honestly not insinuating Tiffany was a grower, I was not in that scene and did not know her. I'm making a cultural observation.

Again it was a mind set here, the whole place was practically illegal. People thought I was a gov agent of some sort and avoided me like the plague, which worked really well for me I had my own thing going on and it was a very sweet life back then. But you had to know how to negotiate around the growers and rippers, your life might depend on it.. Didn't call it the wild west for nothing. One never spoke of these things either for fear of retaliation. It's fun to have the freedom to write it down on Punaweb, but I still feel I am breaking a taboo. That purple dragon was huge.
