Grand Jury Issues Subpoenas in Kenoi Case
#11
By some amazing coincidence, each councilor was granted funds to be used for "special projects" in their respective district.

Kalakoa, I think you are referring to the Contingency Relief Fund that each council member gets to distribute in their district. I personally do not see this negatively at all. At least not in the way you insinuated, far from it.

For instance out of the 100k each council member gets Greggor Ilagan has distributed $77,736.26 in the current 2015-2016 cycle to various projects in the community. You can see a complete breakdown of this at:

http://records.co.hawaii.hi.us/weblink8/...Page1.aspx

And with small allocations such as:

• Grant to Puna Community Medical Center for Medivan project $10,000.00
• Grant to Pahoa Schools Support Foundation for Service Project Day $1,000.00
• Grant to Big Island Lions Foundation for vision screening $5,830.00

All of them seem like programs that warrant our support and I am fairly sure if we looked at each closely we'd find them to have merit. I mean hey, pick on someone that goes to hostess bars on the government's dime, sure, go right ahead. But I don't see any reason to mix that up with small amounts of money being given to worthy causes in the community. I think that's just silly on your part brah.

If you want to know about each council persons expenditures there is a link to their "Contingency Relief Fund" next to each profile on the Councils website at:

programs that warrant our support

The same could be said about some of the pCard charges.

That is total blubber BS. The county has been posting a slight carryover balance from a balanced budget for many years. They are not allowed to make money, they are not allowed to lose money. It is very admirable when the county can carryover a small amount to cover costs until the new revenue cycle begins. These financial records are openly available on county sites, there is no sane reason to lie constantly. The bonds are well within the county's projected budget and it sounds like tightening down on real estate tax evasion is bringing in added revenue, increasing the county's credit rating even more. You blow Chunks, Chunkster.

Another odd statement by old ED/TED.

Of course the bond payments are within budget!
The problem is that the bond payments are making up such a large portion of the budget, that COULD BE USED FOR BETTER THINGS, or to LOWER TAXES!

Nanowit, the budget is set by your representatives. Have you counciled them on oh, how much wiser you are?

Just proving how much of a liar you are, the bond payments were half of the ceiling allowed, with the long list of infrastructure work, is being raised to 3/4 of the limit. The county budget is expenditures and the county as a whole ends up the fiscal year with a slight surplus.

So typical of psycho right-wing ignorance about economics.
