COSTCO in Hilo
#1
With all this new changes surrounding Us recently (roundabout ,New Malama Market)
It is possible o have a Costco on this side of the island?
Personally I do LOVE Costco ( I can do 99%of my shopping there).
Let me know what you think about it?

Check out PWebs search history for "Costco for the east side".

Us Easterners should boycott Costco until they build one over here.
If everyone makes the trip to Kona then why should they bother to build a Hilo store?
I make my pledge: No More Costco!

At the very least avoid them for a month (e.g. May) so that they hopefully notice the dip.

That is an interesting idea, what if there was an organized effort to boycott Costco for a specific period of time to let them know people are tired of making that drive? But people couldn't cheat by stocking up in advance, or it would defeat the purpose of the boycott. To be effective it would have to be for at least 3 months, that would be enough to really impact their bottom line and make them concerned people would get used to skipping the trip to Kona.

I think stocking up in advance isn't a problem, as long as there is a noticeable dip during a particular month.
Maybe some Kona people will join in so they can be rid of us.

I haven't been to Costco in more than 10 years, and they STILL haven't built one over here.

Costco always seem to be close to an airport, which tells me they target selling to the tourists well. For many tourists costco is probably one of the first stops after checking into their vacation home. Hawaii's costco's may be some of the busiest in all of america and there are a lot of costco stores. Jmo.

Costco doesn't give a funk if we boycott them for a month. We'll be back. If anything causes Costco to be interested, it won't be boycotting their west side location, it will be losing sales to Amazon or rumors of a Sam's Club coming in.

The last time I was over there I overheard some Kona residents in the snack bar say, "You can always tell who the people from Hilo are because they have family reunions and block the aisles when they meet other people from Hilo."

never IMO ....and not needed
The population of people would need to double on this island to justify it...

with the one in Kona .. we all drive to Kona anyways so there really wouldnt be much more business w/2... plus its a good excuse to drive to the sunburn side every once in a while to dry up...
aloha
