Just so all, y'all know, Keonepoko ran out of lunch, again. It is beyond comprehension that our keiki are not eating due to the DOE/Etc., not providing the funds to feed our children. WTH does it take to feed our kids? [

We all know the DOE is "in charge". I have written both DOE and OHA (who reaps the benefits of geothermal royalties, etc.) to make sure our keiki have lunch. Please write and complain to all entities involved, to make sure our keiki have something to eat at lunch time. [
!]
For the love of God, and whatever/whoever you believe in, can we please feed our kids??!?! Where the hell are our "elected officials" to deal with this kind of "oversight"?

P.S. SO upset with this latest revelation. Some keiki only eat one meal a day, and it's at school. Now the school can't even feed them!

Gee, maybe parents should be responsible for feeding their kids.
I think that's one of the basic parental duties.
Some people can't feed the kids they have, but keep popping out a new one every year.
And I agree the DOE/whatever should get their act together and feed the keiki. It's not the kids' fault their parents don't do what they should.

When they are at school, they are government property...
They are obligated to feed them..just like the convicts in prison or jail,( who somehow never miss a meal)

I'm talking about the NUMEROUS times, including this past week, that they ran out of food for the keiki. Yes, school ended (for this session), however, the problem did not.
Would you please write the "powers to be" to be a voice for the keiki? Please (and thank you)?

P.S. Some of these kids parents are unable to provide meals, due to their own damn problems. It does "take a village". Can we do something, please? SO upset about this. [

It's all well and good to shake our heads at irresponsible people, but it's the kids who are suffering and they didn't get to choose their parents. A kid who has rotten (i.e. drunk, drug-addicted, etc.) parents is already in a living hell. Maybe we can't fix that, but we can at least get them a hot meal, no? (Well, no... not until school is back in session...)
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
No more...decent meals on weekdays
Think kids who haven't eaten that day are paying any attention to what the teacher is saying?
I've never heard of a school running out of food before. It's outrageous. Shame on them.

Somebody should be fired. Totally unfathomable how you screw up your supply chain so badly as to deny youngsters their lunch. But this being Hawaii I know nothing will happen so back to the blender I go!
