#1
In the last several months they have issued me new cards twice because they said a merchant account was compromised. Im pretty sure the latest one was local. Anyone else having problems?

I've had this happen with credit cards in the past. I'm just happy that the security people with the credit card company are on top of things. They know way before I do that there's a problem and they call me to let me know.

Just call me Mike

I just opened an account; the new cards are chip cards, supposed to be harder to use stolen data.

The chip cards, as deployed in the US, were done wrong. They should have been chip and PIN, not chip and sign. If the actual card is stolen, anyone can forge a signature at a point of sale system. It is much harder to have the PIN.

I had to set up a PIN for the card, but haven't had to use it locally; the readers mostly want swipe, not insert. Target cards require the PIN.

Well, not quite. We shop all over the island using chip cards and not one store requires a pin. Are you thinking of a debit card maybe?

nope, I don't have a debit card. Target credit card is chip, requires a PIN.

I guess they'll be resending our chip cards soon! Def don't need a PIN except with Target card.

btw, big love for Target Red card - 5% off your whole purchase... love ours. (you can get as debit or as credit card. We have cc.) And btw if you go to customer counter with an item you just have a feeling you can get for less, they'll do a comparison check right there. I got 2 nightstands marked at $115 ea for like $85 ea. And people swear by their Cartwheel app for Target, which I've been too lazy to download so far. You take a pic of a UPC code and it gives you a coupon for discount. (i.e., hidden sales on some items.) Sorry for hijacking thread there.
