So the siren went off about 30 minutes ago, sending me into a panic. And then it stopped. I have no text from Civil Defense, nothing on the radio or Police scanner. And at this date and time, it was not the usual scheduled test. My question is, do these thing 'malfunction' often?

ODD, wasn't it ? I checked the NOAA sight immediately. (

no warning posted .......then went to local and national news. Nothing there either.
No sure if these sirens have a reputation for malfunctioning........we too are on Kaloli Point and until the new siren was installed several months ago on the point...we could hear no sirens at all!
Punatalk has always been a good source for info.....so , I'll just keep checking back here for any information!

Yours seems to be the only one going off. I can faintly hear it here off Makuu. Probably a malfunction or they're working on it.

Yeah it is getting annoying. Goes off then on then off then on. The one at 6th & Makuu Is quiet, so it looks like a malfunction. Im glad we're not closer for my dog's sake.

Yep, the siren again. So my gate open again and a car pulled out. What's up with this? This is not good... if the boy cries wolf too much he will be ignored.

Thank you all for your responses. But.... shouldn't Civil Defense, or someone, say, 'Hey, we've had a malfunction.' ? I'm new to the area, and... I guess all I can say is, I already have 'disaster' scenario nightmares (yes, I know, a bit weird) and thanks to this I won't be sleeping well for the next few nights.
