Native Hawaiians in support of TMT
#1
I just heard a discussion on HPR about a local group in Hilo called PUEO who are coming out in support of the TMT and they've been gaining support for this upcoming meeting on the 17th.

Their website and the interview is on here. Check it out!

Thanks for the link, Eric1600. I knew the group existed but didn't know about the website. Much appreciated.

I really like their knowledge based approach to decision making. They link three environmental impact studies and encourage people to make decisions based on understanding of all sides of the issue. They accept that others have differing ideas and seem to me to be a great example for our keiki.

They are also inclusive and are encouraging a show of support tomorrow at the State Building in Hilo at 10am. They invited anyone and everyone to show support.

Unfortunately the "Protectors" are trying to get them excluded from the future hearings and have filed against them.

The protectors want to exclude PUEO from the hearings?

Why wouldn't the protectors want the voices of the Hawaiian people to be heard? Didn't they claim that's what they were fighting for on Mauna Kea?

Richard is a (very) late comer to the party

Does this stipulation also apply to those who arrived late to the party to protest the TMT well after hearings, meetings, and impact statements had all taken place - - that somehow since they were so Johnny-come-lately to the process that we should ignore their protests? Their opinions and comments should also be invalidated by their tardiness, as you suggest PUEO should be at this point?

Richard Ha != PUEO. I don't understand why dakine has made this so personal.

Late to the party, sure thing. Note the date:

Sounds like jealousy to me. I hope Mr Ha does run for office, good to have more pro-science people to balance out the luddites.
