Lilikoi, another community member got ripped off by that loser too, but here's the rub: he says he submitted video/photo evidence of her walking out of his place with his stuff, and the police did NOTHING. I would see if they still have that video. And why they choose to not prosecute a thief.
Leave your contact info with HACA, they will follow up on it with the police and our district rep to see something is done.
Unfortunately, something that must be considered in the USA and especially Hawaii is that criminals ply their trade backed up by a team of lawyers.
If a criminal is injured on your property while committing a crime, you may be held liable and sued for all you own, or even criminally prosecuted. The crimes that forced you to act may not even be admissible in court.
YOu live in a state where someone who blocks your path and demands money is engaging in 'protected free speech', and people who dump a pile of rocks in the middle of the road are engaging in 'protected religion'.
We had squatters near where I live, but they were really nice people. One of their daughters went to UH on a scholarship.

About 6 months ago - a house was broken into on Rd 6 between D and E.
On cam all was recorded .
Female cloths were taken - coolers on the porch taken.
Some cash and coins taken .
All was turned over to law enforcement and nothing ever came of it .
As for us firing our shotgun the other morning - more bang than live rounds .We knew them for one and they are just teens and with school out and mom n dad still sleeping they were not fully aware what the kids were up to .
The two rounds we fired had just black powder and no home made rock salt .
We are happy with the end result - helping these teens be better community members in the long run .
We have given all 3 teens rides from 1 and D when the school bus lets them off in the past and will continue to do so .
We have offered the parents to pay each child $25 dollars for every A grade per semester in a college scholarship fund if the parents will match it and 10 dollars for every B through C grade and no money at all for failing any of said courses, all hinged on perfect attendance at Kea'au Jr High and High schools .
Those in Hawaiian Acres who can or are able to afford to help with the up and coming next generations may wish to also step up and help out in constructive ways .
As for the squatter rips down side - would still like a full description of vehicles and or plates or if the putt putt is a moped or dirt bike .

Mrs. Mimosa - Do you recall the brand and/or model of your camera set up? I'm in the market for some type of security system.

They drive an older white Dodge pickup truck. The motorbike is a dirt bike with white fenders on it. I will provide plates and more details next time I see them.
The thieves are still out terrorizing my neighborhood. They have revisited my place multiple times since the initial robbery. (Edited. Details removed because I'm afraid )
Their squatter house is lit up at night with my stolen solar system and it bugs the **** out of me that I can't do anything about it! When I return home I will have candle light until I can afford to buy a new solar system. The police told me I should have written my name and phone number on EVERYTHING so I would be able to prove it's mine. This is a good tip and I am writing my name on everything in the future. I have the receipts and serial numbers for everything, but according to the police, if they were to find those items in "her" house, that is still not enough to prove she robbed me for some reason.
Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions! I'm following up with all of them and not backing down!

The thieves are still out terrorizing my neighborhood. They have revisited my place twice since the initial robbery. More small items have been stolen and now things are getting broken and damaged as well. Nothing major as I have nothing left there of value to steal/break. Now they are doing small stuff like breaking mirrors and breaking my plastic storage bins and stealing cat food. I spoke with the police this morning and they still don't have enough evidence to move forward with my case and search her squatter house or bring her down to the station to be identified by the multiple witnesses in a lineup. That really sucks since my neighbor caught her on video camera robbing them and gave the video to the police!

The Dodge truck - does it have a front bumper with out a plate and is chrome and looks like a smile ?
Is the truck diesel ?
Yesterday a older diesel white dodge truck came through the intersection of 4 and D at a high rate of speed and just missed by inches,2 kids on bicycles.A local male was driving according to the kids.
Thank you on this and as far as engraving your items - do so with a metal or plastic tool that digs deep into the surface and put the ,last 4 digits of your SSN or street addressor initials with Bdate in hard see places.
In addition take photo's of everything and keep in storage locker or safe deposit box .
There are also small GPS locator chips that in some areas of the world can be hooked up to high ticket items so at a small cost monthly - if ever stolen, can be traced via satellite and direct law enforcement with in inches of said item.
All newer vehicles have this technology.

What a horror story. I can't believe the police won't get into this.

The police have told me they are working on it. I don't think they are doing anything, but I don't know what goes on there behind the scenes.
