Genki Buffet

I gotta say the new wikifresh across from the chinese grocery store.... is pretty tasty. Making it kinda a habit to go when in hilo.

What we need is a really nice all you can eat salad bar. Dunno, Pizza Hut and the other ones (by uncle billy) don't seem to do it for me. The best they got is queens court, but at 50 bucks... It's a bit expensive. I heard that for 35 you can go to sky garden salad bar, heard some good things but haven't really gotten around to try it, I figure...35, might as well spend the extra for queens court.

Dunno... I guess my limit would be 20 bucks for a go to once a week out of a salad bar. I am beginning to hate all you can eat places that are expensive because I'm not a 15 year old that can get 3 plates of food. I just want a verity of some good quality food consistently, at a reasonable price. Maybe a salad bar with 3X through max so you don't get the local's running you out of business?

Anyone ever try a "Sweet Tomatoes" restaurant. Its a salad bar restaurant chain on the mainland like Sizzlez (without the protein). Very good saladbar all you can eat for under $10.00 per person.

What we sorely need is a Dim Sum place.

Sky Garden buffet cost $35 when they had crab, I think it's normally cheaper. Their website doesn't show a menu or list prices. I ate lunch there recently, didn't think the buffet was very good.
Coconut Grill also has a not-fabulous salad bar.

Well, uhmmmm...I think I should've read this entire thread before taking the hubster there for dinner. My first comment was "Wow, they really went all out on the remodel" After one pass at the buffet, I said "I bet you're glad I'm buying"
Perhaps the worst meal I've had. Ever.

I am sorry that it didn't improve..
We went on the first night & it was a disaster....caused by the management & staff...

SBH: if your uncle got sick after eating there on the first night they were open, I am pretty sure I know why, as I did post our first night experience here:

Thanks for the 411 Andy. I stopped by and just went inside to look yesterday and the food looked "fast". And greasy. I'll save my money and eat elsewhere.

Well, we tried this place a couple days ago. I wasn't going to mention it, as I don't like pile on when someone is down. The food wasn't very good. Wasn't very hot. We each tried different soups. My wife said hers was lacking in heat. Mine wasn't as hot as I would have liked, but not cool enough to complain. My wife did tell the waitress her soup was cool. The egg rolls were pretty good. I'd sum it up by saying, we won't be going back.

Today we had lunch at the beautiful gardens with a restaurant, Nani Mau Orchid Restaurant, at 421 Makalika Street. We've eaten there 4-5 times, and it's really good. After you eat, stroll the fantastic gardens, and bang the big gong. The difference between the two places is night and day.

Hey Birdmove thanks for the tip, I never heard of that place. What kind of food do they have?
