My takeaway after looking at the map is people on the Big Island must hear a lot better than those on Oahu.

Could be the traffic noise has something to do with it... that and money.

Rule of thumb for potential tsunamis: If there is a local earthquake strong enough to knock you off your feet head to higher ground ASAP. If the earthquake is somewhere else you will have plenty of time to put your emergency plan into action.

It would be nice if the OP would change the name of this thread to reflect the fact that this event is no longer "going off right now". In fact it would be just swell if people would put the date in the topic name for "happening right now" events.

From another list I found ... it shows actually cordinates and decibel level.
https://data.hawaii.gov/Public-Safety/De.../jety-j7dm

Usually between 115 and 125 dB.

Not really loud if you are a few miles away.

Yes, all those parallel streets, roads and highways. All that parallel, perpendicular, and diagonal flow of:

We never hear any sirens here in H.A.at 4 and D.
Once in a blue moon we hear the siren test faintly at the 1st of every month.
Good thing just a gecko or rat chewing wires to make every thing haywire at Civil Defense .
Some one must have egg on their face .
Typical Big Island oooops .
