It is easy to criticize, but hard to take action (and face criticism yourself).

Punaweb is an amazing community resource, Rob is cool for running it in the fair way he does, and a lot of constructive community organizing could be done right through this site.

The wealth of knowledge here is incredible, especially the finer points of construction and gardening.

I think Rob "tolerates" the noise simply because he's too busy to micromanage it -- we could all learn something from that example.

Rob does a fantastic job in keeping our right to voice our opinions in a manner that allows us freedom of speech without actual threats or discrimination, for the most part. This is vital for a "community" be one through the Internet to provide thoughts, ideas, speculations, sage advice, etc. in the actual community they all live in and just like any neighborhood, you have ones you get along with, and others you don't.

I agree with randomq, kalakoa, and Tink.

Someone could post that they just donated $1 million dollars to world peace and rather than a thank you, they're just as likely to get a reply that it wasn't enough to accomplish anything of consequence, or the money should have gone to local hunger charities instead. Yet, plenty of people will say thank you, too.

So is the glass half empty, or half full?

“What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends on what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. What we take to be true is our reality." -David Bohm

Most people who post here enjoy sharing their experience and thoughts about what it is to live well in E. Hawaii.
For the most part people here are tolerant and even encourage a good debate and differences of opinion. There is a lot of talent , information and wisdom here.
As in all communities, we have some grumps and some not so nice people, but they too have a right to speak.
To me, PW is a huge resource for current information and ideas and there are some people here I have come to regard with respect and even affection.

Maybe you could take another look? It seems you're missing out on the good stuff. Half empty/half full? Your choice.
Welcome to PW!

Pardon me for chiming in as I'm not one of the "prolific posters" you mention.

What is so sad about Punaweb?

Are you comparing it to websites which have ads, neon lights, bells, whistles and porn?

If so, it is really sad.

poor, poor, Punaweb.

I personally don't mind a little attitude in conversation now and then. I don't eat bland food.. nor do I want bland interactions with others... how boring life would be without flavor.
