New Hawaii start up to deal with plastic waste
#1
Hawaii is (hopefully) going to be at the forefront of waste plastic utilization...best part, finished product is a construction material - the ByFusion tech. can manufacture construction sized blocks & can utilize any plastic material (even dirty & marine waste plastic...something that is a humbug in most recycling processes)

There are obviously a lot of problems when dealing with plastics.

I see two solutions:

Stop creating the substance
--And--
Render what we have created inert

I would hate to see an industry which thrives on the continued production of plastic.

That's actually a terrible idea.

Cool Carey, Its a great start.

Mr. Nice guy, what is YOUR solution ? The "industry" Carey has linked is not the cause of the problem, and never will be. However, reusing ( as long as that very process is not trading a problem for a problem ) what has already been created is the next best bet.

SBH, if you check it out, there is no mention of making Baby / water bottles in there.

If you want to use toxic building materials to build your home for your family go right ahead.

Broad Brush, negative mentality way of thinking. Two steps into any google search you set up so it agrees with you will always yield something that will kill you, even spinach.

The folks creating this are in it for the right reasons, do not condemm it 'till you learn more.

I doubt it's any more toxic than the treated lumber we build our homes with or the asphalt mixture we build our roads with.

..Bad boys,Bad boys what we gonna do...let ya out on bail for a buck or two...

Mr. Nice guy, what is YOUR solution ?

The two solutions I proposed weren't acceptable to you?

Also, if this business does not rely on the continued production of plastics it is quite alright with me (a quick re-read of my earlier post might have helped you understand).

No they are not, just because you said and then regurgitated

"Stop creating the substance
--And--
Render what we have created inert"

Does not answer even come close. Its so EZ to just attack and criticize, but it takes EFFORT to constructively reply. So I' am waiting for your suggested options.

I hope you can save us all tonight.

@airport, I reserve the right to repeat whatever I said earlier if it looks like you don't understand (and by what you've said, you certainly don't).

There have been enough really smart, well funded scientists working on this problem for quite some time now. I'm probably more likely to win the lottery than come up with a solution which makes you happy tonight.

If you think somebody has been attacked or criticized you might do well to put some armor over your thin skin.

As for making your house out of recovered plastic, go ahead. Just be so kind as to not make any more, ok?
