Lets see. First off, they are only open for lunch till 1:30 I think. Check the website. They make the best potstickers I've ever had. Very good teriyaki chicken. Salad, fish, fried rice, some good noodle dishes. My wife tried the beef stew today and said it was really good. The food is always very fresh, and hot. Very good coffee, and I drank 3 glasses of some really good juice that was a combination of apple and not sure what else. I had just finished a very hot sweaty workout at Aloha Fitness, and was ready to drink mud puddles. They usually get a bus or two of tourists. You must take a nice walk through the gardens while you are there...it's free after you eat. The people are really nice that work there too. Check the website for hours and days. They make a good brownie for desert too,

I wonder if the Genki Buffet people are rethinking their name choice now that all the Genki Sushi places are being temporarily closed. Their raw scallops that were shipped in frozen have been identified as the source of the Hepatitis A outbreak. Good job by the health department to identify the source.

If they are any way related, see your doctor if you had the scallops!!

In all due fairness to Keaau's Genki joint, NO, they are not related in any way other than the word Genki. The sushi joint is a chain that relies on the conveyor belt novelty. Sushi comes around and you pick up what you want. The scallop sushi they make is actually one of their best.
Genki Buffet is a not-so-cheap Keaau version of a cheap Chinese Buffet. No franchise. No chain. Just Keaau. For a few more months, at least.

I thought I was careful to be clear that the Keaau place just chose to name their place Genki, guess I wasn't clear enough.

Yes, you were clear, but sometimes owners will use the same name, but a slightly different menu. No offense to Genki Buffet implied!

Every time I pass by, that place is so "dead". There are always more people in lemongrass and that other grease pit next to it than there are in Genki Buffet. I may retract that guess of an 18 month lifespan for the restaurant and go with 9 months.

Had lunch at Lemongrass today; Genki's price has dropped to 12.99 all day, instead of the higher price at dinner. Still was empty.

Genki is from the Japanese greeting "O-genki-desu-ka?", meaning "how are you (feeling)?". The response is "Hai, genki desu!", meaning "Yes, I am well".
The irony is ono.

At Lemon Grass, we like the Bun salad with eggroll cut up in it.
