Looking forward to more news about the discoveries made by our amazing MK telescopes.
Keep us up to date on that Ninth planet! Any ideas for names yet? Thanks Tom.

Telescopes don't discover anything.
It is humans that discover things, and often, they are only rediscovering things. *Japanese tourist on bus through Pahoa, "Is this still America?*

It is humans that discover things, I believe it takes a who as well as a how. For instance, could Galileo have discovered the first four moons of Jupiter without a telescope? and often, they are only rediscovering things. And on this thread some seem to want to explore the same off topic rediscoveries of their own misinformed or misunderstood personal "re-search." “We’ve got to be as clear-headed about human beings as possible, because we are still each other’s only hope,” James Baldwin to Margaret Mead in the book A Rap On Race

Indeed: in this case, humans are rediscovering that Hawaii is actively hostile to any kind of new business development or large construction project. Again I wonder ... what will the New Republic of Hawaii do for money after they've driven all that horrible desecration Off The Island?

A re-internment tax? It seems to be a growth industry. “We’ve got to be as clear-headed about human beings as possible, because we are still each other’s only hope,” James Baldwin to Margaret Mead in the book A Rap On Race

If and when I hear something, I'll post something here. If a ninth planet is detected, and the detection is confirmed, then the proposed name will likely have to go through the International Astronomical Union (IAU). For the solar system, there are procedures for comets, asteroids and other minor bodies, but am not aware of one for new planets. The last time that came up was in 1930! If it's discovered, my hunch is the IAU will go with tradition and use a name from mythology. https://www.iau.org/public/themes/naming/

I think we can all agree the ninth planet is PUNA !

They're all Roman gods except for Uranus (Greek). Since it could be Hawaiian telescopes making the discovery, I hope we get a local goddess this time.
