This surely can't mean that using their own vehicles is some sort of cultural or traditional practice. Can it? What am I missing?
The guy in the video bemoans that they never got out of the van, and thus couldn't feel the ju ju. But he seems reasonable.
And wouldn't "cultural and traditional practices" mean that non-alii wouldn't even be allowed to set foot up there? What am I missing?
It's almost a bad SNL skit at this point...

So people are pissing and moaning that they didn't get to measure the length of the balloon's tether? Should have anticipated that and made measuring it a part of the process. It's theatre anyway.
Ultimately, being an atheist, I will bemoan the influence of religious superstition, which this partly is. It is also largely due to the cheap thrills to be had by interfering with such a significant project and getting your 15 minutes of fame. So some people wanted to be able to stop and genuflect? On one level that would have been harmless enough but we are talking about a tiny minority of people who have sought every opportunity be contradictory. Didn't some of these people want to speak in court for ancient Hawaiian deities? That kind of nonsense is NOT harmless. You have to have some standards and enforce them. Society exists in order to make people, some of them at least, unhappy. Obviously rapists and murderers need to be made unhappy and for that I am glad, but it is a continuous spectrum. There will always be those who are left or right of center who feel the sting of not getting things their way.
If you think that 2+2=4 and your neighbor says 2+2=5, is it in the spirit of compromise to agree that 2+2=4.5? No, that's just caving in to stupidity.

The contested case hearing has now reached a milestone - 300 documents submitted and in the archive:

The format has recently changed. Until recently, all the documents were available on one page, but now the entire list has to be viewed via other pages. My thanks to Opihikao for originally posting the link to the archive.
What confused me at first is that it says there are 308 documents but 300 is the latest document number (at the time of writing). I think that's because a few of the original documents are not counted in that list (i.e., you have to go to the earliest part of the archive to see the additional eight documents).
