Left unchecked, more bullying and making fun of Gypsy by Tom and Paul and the gang for a couple pages.

Pathetic that a person cannot have an opinion here without being attacked.

Pathetic that you come rushing to the defense of the village idiot. Maybe you and Gypsy should start your own forum and just babble to each other all day!

Geez. APP just got released from the PW dog house today and now he is back in the dog house.

Assume the best and ask questions.

I fail to see what AP did to warrant a second dog house visit so soon? How did His Opinion get him in Forum trouble again?

KJ, thank you sir and may I have another one? Please try to encourage discussion on this forum at times. Try asking some good questions rather than always trying to put people like myself down. It would or could be easy for me to call you a bunch of names in return right now as a response to your last few posts. jmo

A hospital may have been a good thing to have built in the Pahoa area before the Geothermal power plant.

A hospital would still be good thing even if they built it now, many years after the geothermal plant.

I have heard it said that an Associates Degree is equivalent to what a High School education used to be and I believe it. The general public is losing whatever grasp they had of basic logic. Gypsy69 has made several statements that beg to be challenged, that invite challenge, that proudly throw down the gauntlet, and yet he and some others seem not to get that this leaves him open to being challenged.

TomK's questions are pretty much what I would have asked if Tom had not already done so.

sheesh - all this over a bit of info that took 5 minutes to find via Google.

TMT Final Environmental Impact Statement
http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/occl/files/2013/0...e-Vol1.pdf
Page 258 or 3-169
"Preliminary design electrical load estimates indicate that the TMT Observatory will operate with a “Peak Demand” (defined as the single highest demand electrical load required during any observatory operating period of time) load of 2.4 MW. However, the average power usage at the TMT Observatory is likely to be similar to the average power usage at the Keck observatory, 350 kW, because the two facilities will be similar in size when you consider both of the Keck domes.
...
Energy consumption at the potential TMT Mid-Level Facility is expected to be minor and would be supplied through the existing HELCO power distribution system at Hale P#333;haku. The 20,000 to 35,000 square foot Headquarters, with 90 up to 116 employees, could consume 60 kW hours per month, based on the average electric bill for the Keck Observatory Headquarters.
...
The electricity use associated with the TMT Observatory, potential TMT Mid-Level Facility, and Headquarters will not have a significant impact on other facilities on the mountain or islandwide. The Project’s average electrical power use represents less than one percent of the generating capacity of HELCO, and is less than the electrical power use associated with a number of different commercial facilities, including resort hotels.
"

So according to the EIS, the TMT's energy costs are estimated to be similar to Keck's, or about $1.1 million a year in 2011 dollars. Concerns over energy use and impacts are also raised in the EIS commentary by Na Kupuna and others.

5 minutes to answer a question or days of bickering; seems like an obvious choice. Oh wait, this is punaweb... carry on Wink

Ah, but that's the Way Rob likes it.

And it would be so easy to deal with, it would make the whole PW experience so much more civil, enjoyable. But no, Rob likes it rough, thinks allowing people to be assholes is a good thing. Or so it seems:

Well, while making a personal attack on the owner and moderator of Punaweb is an interesting way to go, do you have any evidence to back up gypsy69's claim that:

"The TMT alone if built and operational will need and use roughly 5-10 million worth of electricity a year, while also demanding electricity priority over the rest of the island."?

Just curious.

APP, Gypsy and now Dakine. Birds of a feather flock together?

But can anyone answer the question?
