There are helicopter landing areas on Mauna Kea, but at lower altitudes than the summit area. These are places the observatories know where to bring victims in an emergency. All summit staff are trained in first aid/CPR/AED and also have access to an emergency evacuation vehicle in the worst case (I think it has only been used once in a real emergency while I've been here).
Although there are helicopters that could be used to make an emergency evacuation from the summit possible, I don't believe any civil operators can do that so it would have to be military, and we don't have any idea if and when that might be. It's much faster to be in contact with 911, stabilize the victim and get them down to a lower altitude where emergency services can help. This is something that is drilled into us continuously!
So, in answer to your question, it's possible but not reliable.

I don't know if you saw the last few minutes of court. Thursday's last minute protest of having the hearing on Monday (Halloween) because it is not allowed to discuss the worship of the devil during the 4 months of Makahiki was classic. The patience of Amano was stellar. I was surprised that she didn't just tell him the topic of the devil worship will not be discussed on Monday in court but she was probably just struggling in confusion of how to address this issue.

Do Hawaiian families not send their kids out trick or treating?
Do Hawaiian church goers avoid Sunday services during Makahiki? From my recollection of sermons I've heard, you're hard pressed to find a preacher who can resist spicing his discourse with a little damnation, brimstone, or hellfire.

Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Thanks Eric1600 for sharing...I can't bring myself to watch it all and appreciate such snippets, if appreciate is the right word.
Cheers,

The protesters seem unmotivated by any sense of shame such as at not being competent to detect and address this "conflict" when it first was detectable, but instead doing so at the last possible moment.
ETA: That's in addition to the idiocy of the argument itself.

I would love to find out, under oath, how many of the protesters are allowing their children to go trick-or-treating Monday.

They have also protested to Amano about having to appear in court ("under duress") because of the crackdown on the protestors in South Dakota over the oil pipeline.

To be fair, although Fergerstrom's call for a delay due to Halloween is something I would expect to see in a Monty Python sketch, the UH/TMT lawyers did not impress. They didn't seem to know which witnesses they would be calling on Monday 31st.
I've only ever used a law firm once, a CA one, and although they were expensive, they were so much sharper than these guys.

Tink,

It's run up on a weekly basis to make sure it's always available. We even get a notice when it's unavailable for short periods of time for training etc.
