I never sent power tools out for repair.
If I can't fix them, I replace them.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Wire coat hangers worked great for me, but I haven't tried it on guinea grass. If you do use it on something really tough, be sure to let everybody know how it does.

Straight wire with a tiny loop to hold it inside the rotor.

Cut wire so it does not contact the razor that normally cuts the line to length.

Pros:
It is very effective
Cheap
Uses zero nylon or whatever crap they make line out of.

Cons:
Will quickly chew up you and just about anything else it contacts.
Slightly heavier than trimmer line, not recommended for underpowered trimmers.

dont wait so long to recut your grass weeds... if you wait til its 2' tall you deserve to have to weedwack it a few times in one session to mulch all the extra crap....
weedwackers work if you use them correctly... using a handtool on weeds, besides roundup, is going back to caveman days especially if you have multiple acres to weed 2X/Mo.
fwiw I weedwack 6 acres weekly.... 3 in HA and 3 in Volcano Village...
