This is a completely different issue aside the TMT. It involves DHHL's inability to get qualified homesteaders a homestead. DHHL has apparently been leasing their land on the lower elevations of Mauna Kea for ranching and hunting purposes.

A very different issue, and maybe the kind of thing that the "Protectors" should be dealing with- rather than trying to hurt ALL of us with the anti-TMT "jihad".
An accounting on the part of DHHL and OHA is long overdue. Long overdue.
How are DHHL and OHA carrying out their legal responsibilities and their financial responsibilities and mandates?

Obviously the Chinese weather satellites are running interference while the NSA deploys their new mindprobe antenna array. Otherwise the road would be open so that tourists could enjoy the snow!

Would our once calm and peaceful Mauna Kea really be the best site to have this new high grade technology or eye in the sky experiment?
Would a person decorating their Christmas Tree place the Christmas Star in the ideal, most appropriate location at the top of the tree, or somewhere less desirable, down lower?
May your Pearls of Wisdom be ornamental AND pragmatic in this holiday season.
Merry Christmas gypsy!

Nobody would ever desecrate the planet or its inhabitants with weapons designed for that purpose. Telescopes are the worst possible outcome.

Yes, I can certainly understand how protesting a telescope rises to top priority in a world safely protected by $40 billion of ADDITIONAL arms sales in the world by the USA, guns, bombs, missiles, grenades, ammunition, all the things that help me sleep better at night, some sold to countries that instead of fighting, are now cooperating together on building the TMT. We wouldn't want those people to work together, as a way toward understanding each other, then finding out they might have a common interest to explore together. Instead of blowing each other up. It might be too much like spreading the spirit of Aloha around the planet.

How many people actually go up to the white mountain to pray anyway.10, 50 , 100 people. Where did they get their ali'i qualifications from.. is there some sort of application you fill out... or is it ' I just feel I'm better than you.. so I'm gonna.
That's one part of this I don't understand.
Another part of me says.. if the gods didn't want development up there.. they would take care of the problem..
