At least we'd get a lawsuit to end all lawsuits out of the deal. Not that anything would change.

There were a couple of points last year that we had issues getting plans through. One point that held up a couple of clients in particular was the sudden and premature enforcement of the Puna Flood Study. People who bought property in flood zone 'X' (meaning not a flood a zone) were suddenly held to the flood study that still hasn't even been accepted, stating that they were indeed in a flood zone and would have to build 10' up (or whatever the expensive elevation certification that they had to provide indicated). That is the only time any of our clients permits were delayed for over a year.
The second point was the introduction of Daniel Lee down at county building department. Suddenly we had an engineer plans reviewer who wanted increased standards than before. He wanted to triple check our yurt and platform specs. It took us about 4 months to reprove our specs and we passed again - the 4th time in our 12 years of business that we have been challenged by county to prove specs and the 4th time we have been successful.
Since November of last year we have had 6 residential permits come through and 4 more are routing. We are now the only soft sided yurt that is permittable as a residence in Hawaii.
Yurts can be set up by owners or a crew. When we manage a set up we have a lot more overhead costs and provide a professional, warranteed set up, meaning if mistakes are made, we are on the hook and we will make it right. You don't get that peace of mind with the neighborhood crew, but sometimes that's what people want to do and that's a-okay with us! Our main hope is that people are in quality yurts living quality lives. We work hard to get that to people and keep it legal should anyone want to permit.
