Luquin's on fire?
#31
For the last year or so, the back of the pawn shop has been a makeshift flophouse for the homeless. The story so far is it started from there.

As far as the future is concerned, Sal has insurance and plans to rebuild. No word on whether the theater is a part of that plan or not.

It's as if a family member just died.

This story on the Honolulu daily's website is a bit sketchy, but it has pictures and is free for now:

The Trib website says both Luquins and Akebono were gutted, as of 11:41 am.

just came back from a look. Structures are a total loss. Smoke is still coming from the windows. No word from Fire Marshal on cause of fire yet. Very sad..

We are sad for the Luquins family today, it's good to hear the plan might be to rebuild.

Sal has insurance and plans to rebuild

How might this affect our children's future? What about groundwater pollution? Hazardous chemicals? The millions of visiting tourists will definitely have an impact.

(Tongue-in-cheek, here; I think it's only fair to apply the "TMT Standard" to all new commercial construction. Maybe the protectors can start holding a vigil?)

Oddly found some post-fire photos on Google Maps. They're sprinkled in with food and other pre-fire photos. Not much left.

Tough the people involved may still be in shock. They will have to fight Zoning/Planing from minute one to not lose their footprint
