As for video 55, Hansen's testimony becomes particularly interesting (and, in my opinion, extremely over-defensive) at the 86 minute mark.

The ultimate and appropriate irony for gypsy will be when his kids get educated (elsewhere from what we're told) and can't find jobs here. Thus he will have "saved" a Hawaii with no economic opportunities, for the so-called natives or anyone else. He should ask his Ivy League student son for a definition of "Pyrrhic victory."

That's an excellent suggestion gypsy. From all reports Mars could be quite similar to Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa where they're conducting Martian habitation experiments at HI-SEAS. Perhaps Mars still harbors some simple life forms such as lichen deep within the more protected lava tubes of the planet.
I wonder if this concept of one person or group listening and then learning from another could be applied elsewhere? For instance, I notice at the TMT Contested Case hearings many questions are repeated, even though they've been asked dozens of times already. Are the questioners listening, paying attention to the proceedings as they sit in the courtroom? Are they learning from the questions of their cohorts, absorbing the new-found knowledge, then asking their own original questions in order to advance an understanding of the TMT project for everyone in the room, and those watching on line?

The biggest question in my mind is why this revelation has taken five years to be revealed. If it was such a big issue, why wasn't included in the EIS, which was accepted back in 2010, or during the first CCH.

My guess (based on nothing) is that the entire mountaintop is home to the mosses, lichens, and other plants described. Is a single one uniquely suited to survival only in the micro-climate at the site of the TMT? Or can they successfully live and grow on the thousands of acres elsewhere around the summit? If they can grow elsewhere, their presence on the north slope was not an issue 5 years ago, and as with so many other points of contention, it's probably not really an issue now.

Since Gypsy is digging a deeper hole for himself, the TMT footprint is five acres, not nine or thirty. Makes you wonder about:

Secondly:

If and when astronomers discover life elsewhere, it will likely be several light years away. How would you suggest astronomers respect that lifeform?

I don't see any protectors stopping the saddle road construction which is tearing up miles of the mountain disturbing flora and fauna, creating noise and dust.
