Ino was talking about this storm in http://punaweb.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=23205
The wind is blowing in the opposite direction from normal. That threatens trees and structures that are usually solid and strong, so risk of damage is greater than same speed winds in the normal direction. It's quite windy in HA, power's still on.

I'm in lower HPP and didn't experience any power outages today despite some windy conditions, so think the actual outages were only in very specific areas. The front Ino was talking about has reached Kauai with thunderstorms just behind. On Monday it passes over Oahu and, unless it stalls, gets to us Tuesday night, so expect non-trade winds to pick up again.
MK summit winds are 50+ mph tonight and suspect they'll get stronger over the next couple of days.

It's a little breezy in lower HPP tonight although nothing too extensive - no power outages so far (at least where I am). The Mauna Kea summit is currently experiencing hurricane force winds.
