United announces Denver to Kona nonstop
#1
United is starting "daily" nonstop service between Kona and Denver starting June 8th. This is good news for Hawaii Island. Kona International Airport keeps getting bigger and bigger. And with that comes more competition and lower fares.

Local coverage refers to this as "summer service".

Funny thing, they quote the "Island of Hawaii Visitors Bureau" as "excited" that people can visit Hawaii, but the flight does go both ways, so entirely possible that Hawaii residents would fly to Colorado to stay in a B&B&B. Maybe our lawmakers should take the opportunity to see what our economy is missing...

Does the last B stand for bong?

You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Wouldn't enough people want to come and go year round, Denver -Kona?
I think that some would fly to Kona in the winter.
And some might fly to Denver in winter to get to say- ski? Or other winter or non- winter joys?
Anyway just thinking.

For "entertainment value":

Most KOA-DEN flights include at least one stop in SFO, HNL, LAX, or maybe OGG.

Roundtrip airfare is in the $900-1200 range.

...and of course you have to drive to Kona.
