I just read a really silly, funny book by this guy. He lives on Maui and has written several...anyone familiar with his stuff??

Carrie,
I have read everything that Christopher Moore has written. Which book did you read? The titles of some of his books give away the underlying humor within the works. "Island of the Sequined Blue Love Nun" is a good example. He also wrote a very funny, if not irreverant, book about Biff, Jesus's childhood friend and 13th apostle, titled "Lamb".

Hi Larry! Just read Fluke or Why the Humpback Whale Sings...very funny. I loved his "Kona" character. My husband read it too. Very nice "escape," overall!

I just finished reading "Fluke" and found it very entertaining. Thanks for the recommendation.

That's a funny book, Howard. I'm not used to reading that type of book and we both found it a real "escape" from the usual.

I just noticed that
www.bookcloseouts.com is selling "The Lust Lizard of Melody Cove," also by Christopher Moore, in paperback for $4.49. This novel is not set in Hawaii, however.

Thanks for the heads-up Howard! I actually ended up ordering three books! I'm such a sucker for something that sounds interesting!

P.S. One of the books I ordered is "Island of the Sequined Love Nun." Sounds funny.
P.S.S. I needed something fun for the long plane ride over next week!

Right now I am halfway through Shark Dialogues by Kiana Davenport. Although a novel about a Hawaiian family, it chronicles much culture and history from Kamehameha to present day...ma'i Pake and Kalaupana; Pearl Harbor; early Union struggles...it's just one of the more beautifully written books I've read.

Lee...I knew VERY little of the stories of Kalaupana and Hansens...wow. Really heart-wrenching stuff.
