House Plans & package homes
#21
We used Big Island Package homes, we just started construction this week? What drew us in was their "Island" style homes and the pricing. Now there are many questions I should have asked up front and didn't and have learned from, but all in all they are great and very flexable. They really worked with us on getting the home we wanted with the add on that met our needs which will allow me to bring my mom with us. What worked well for us was we aren't on Island yet, if we were living there already we could have had time to visit contractors and archeteits and then shop for our materials. They are also working with our contractor on delivery of the materials in stages. Overall I would say take a look at them, but don't go off their webside, they have quite a few more plans than are shown their.

Aloha and sorry for being long winded.

Kapohocat: we are on the same page. I said you don't want a General Contractor; he subs out to these subcontractors. You do need licensed people for the three things you mentioned; I only am suggesting you hire them yourself and save the 15 to 30% add on the General Contractor gets whenhe hires them for you.

Aloha,

My name is Dave M, like this forum needs another David, LOL. I need to thank Carrie and Pam for directing me to this site, Mahalo! I will be coming out to the BI to look at land most likely in the fall. I have been thinking of doing a kit home such as a Yurt or Multifacetted. I noticed HADave made reference to the to Multifacetted but did not go into detail. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking along these lines for simple fact that the dry in time is quick. The cost difference appears nominal when one takes into account the delivery fees and time constraints of using several suppliers as well as the rent cost while I build, "thieves thieves thieves" etc. This first home will eventually be our guest home as we will live in it the first year while we plan and build our main home (we hope). Now I'm not stubborn and I'm open to your thoughts, ideas, suggestions. I look forward to being a semi-regular on this forum.

Aloha,

Dave

Welcome
Do a search using multi facetted. You'l get a list of earlier posts on the topic. Should be able to find earlier yurt posts as well.

Best of luck with you whatever choice you make - it's all an adventure. Smile

There is a Multi-facetted home down on Makuu and about 7th or 8th Ave. I personally think they look better when they are set on a view lot to take advantage of all the angles of view.
