Depends on whom you are asking... There are many groups that are active in land preservation, cleanups, native planting & research to know what & how to do it....

Outdoor Circle does many positive things around the islands, including organizing cleanups, plantings, plant sale & such, but I would doubt many would dub them "the protectors"

& most likely the references you are mentioning may be utilizing that term more facetiously than you might be aware of...

Very diplomatically stated Carey. I was going to say ironically. Best displayed in quotes like "The Protectors."

You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Give the guy a break, it's a mess enough to sort through.

"The Protectors" is used to describe a group of activists opposed to the building on the TMT telescope on Mauna Kea.

Read up on the TMT - it's a very contentious issue, but many here on PW used the term "protectors" derisively akin to the use of "social justic warrior" (don't like the comparison? Bring it Smile

Best of luck with the move glassnumbers - you'll likely find yourself up to your neck in more than the just the warm waters. Just keep swimming... Wink
