Depends on whom you are asking... There are many groups that are active in land preservation, cleanups, native planting & research to know what & how to do it....
Outdoor Circle does many positive things around the islands, including organizing cleanups, plantings, plant sale & such, but I would doubt many would dub them "the protectors" & most likely the references you are mentioning may be utilizing that term more facetiously than you might be aware of...

Very diplomatically stated Carey. I was going to say ironically. Best displayed in quotes like "The Protectors." You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Give the guy a break, it's a mess enough to sort through.
"The Protectors" is used to describe a group of activists opposed to the building on the TMT telescope on Mauna Kea. http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2015/0...-underway/ Read up on the TMT - it's a very contentious issue, but many here on PW used the term "protectors" derisively akin to the use of "social justic warrior" (don't like the comparison? Bring it ![]() Best of luck with the move glassnumbers - you'll likely find yourself up to your neck in more than the just the warm waters. Just keep swimming... ![]() |
