I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the disappearance of the hawks from Wa'a Wa'a? I noticed a change last week in that there was no activity around my home which is very unusual especially since it is breeding season. I am concerned because for the years that I have lived here they have bred next to my home.

Don't know bonsai. But we still have sightings here in HPP and I wonder for how much longer. There's been a lot of clearing of forests for new construction all over HPP.

We always see them circling when we get new chicks, but it's been over a year since we've seen them here. I hope they're safe somewhere.

We have also noticed a decrease in hawks around Wa'a Wa'a. I did see one circling a little over a week ago.

Maybe the heat wave sent them mauka? Also seen a lot of new clearing around Wa'a wa'a as well as HPP.

We don't have real tall trees here on Kaloli Pt. Did see a hawk in the past month.

It has been dry for an extended period of time, for a month or two before last week's rainstorm. Maybe they temporarily relocated to an area with a reliable source of fresh water?

Thank you for the replies. I did contact the DOFAW of DNLR to let them know and if they have any information about the disappearance in my area to contact me. The 'io around my house have used the Lauhala trees to live in. There has been no disruption to the land surrounding me and I understand they are very territorial. Still wondering and watching....
