thieves, thieves, thieves

To nnickle - You're missing the whole point. I don't break into peoples' homes. I don't steal, I don't go around shooting people, nor break any other laws. But when someone breaks into a home, that homeowner should have every right to protect themselves. Case in point: the unfortunate family in Indianapolis (family of seven) who were all killed in an apparent burglary attempt. No family should ever have to go through that. The point is you never know what a person is going to do who is breaking into your home. It may be just to rob you, or it may be much, much worse. It is also very unlikely that the police will be able to respond in time to come to your aid in such an event. The choice is always in your own hands. Hopefully you will never have to experience such an event. I just prefer to keep my family safe and not play any guessing game with their lives.

Hehehe Tony - no hands...you couldn't do all the colorful things you do! Some levity is welcome here!! What about reality? We can speculate about what we might or might not do to no end - what about keeping our eyes and mouths open and bothering police until they DO something? (Although I do like the electric fence thing since I had the pleasure when in my teens visiting a farm to wander into one...now it's THEIR TURN!!! hahahahaha...)

The problem with the electric fence it that the front of the house (which has a rock wall wouldn't be protected) and seeing as how that might be the easiest way in...

plus think of all the four-legged animals that would fry themselves. Sad

Sorry Stef...didn't mean to be literal. Just remembering a fine jolt I got as a teen on a farm. Might be fun to see a theif get their jolt...(and NO I don't pull the wings off flies!)

I know you're not really serious but growing up on a farm we used electric fences a lot. They are great to control animals. The shock is not lethal just very, very unpleasant and the idea is to train the animals to stay away from the fence. They did not work if animals stampeded because they would be through the fence before they felt it.
People are not deterred. It is easy to go under or over an electric fence or to cut it for that matter. You just have to prevent grounding yourself. Insulated gloves will work.
In Hawaii you would have the additional problem of plants grounding the wire. We had to walk our fences periodically and brushout any undergrowth. if it touched the fence, the the fence would not work.

I personally would like a laser beam zapper or phasar like in star trek. But I think those are hard to come bySmile

I have friends here in Arizona that have huge cactus all along the border of their back wall. It's virtually impossible to climb it!

The first day I owned my house in HPP, a queen size bed and a new washer and dryer were stolen from my house in broad daylight. I say, chop their hands off! Next time its Mr. 9 mm.

How about making several signs that say "Building Site is under Video Surveillance". Post then around the site and at the entrance to the property. Just an idea.

They'll steal the signs.

I watched one friend install heavy steel posts and a heavy chain and lock across the drive.

They stole the chain and lock.
Assume the best and ask questions.
