Moving shipping container
#1
I'm hoping someone can recommend a trucking company in Hilo that can pick up our container when it arrives in Hilo, deliver it to our place in Pahoa, then return to Matson once it's unloaded. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Matson arranged that for us for both of the containers we had shipped. You might want to check with them.

Nevermind! Found the archived posts on the subject (just getting the hang of this forum) and it looks like Conan is the way to go. If anyone has more to add or another suggestion, fire away. But I wanted to correct my rookie mistake [:p] Glad this forum exists. Super helpful...and definitely entertaining!

When you don't own the container (it's going back to the barge company) is a different monster than when it's a one-way trip. Ask the company who gets your container on the barge for a quote, and THEN ask Conens.

Granted, our experiences were in Alaska, but the short ground transport portion of the trip (including use of their container and trailer for 3 days during loading) didn't cost us anything. No reason to hire another company to do something the barge company was going to do for free (or reduced rate) anyway.

ETA: Tariffs are complicated. Don't try to figure them out on your own when they will do it for you.

Terracore. Thanks for your info. Matson says that the trucking from port (Hilo) to final destination must be arranged independent of them. We will have to have the container delivered to our place That is why I am going with the company most recommended on this forum. We will have to have our container delivered to our place, unload, and have it returned to Matson in Hilo.

Conens. Ask for Scooby! I have done the container shuffle a time or two...
