Ninole Progress
#1
Ok, I've been posting bits and pieces of our slow progress in different areas of the forum. Perhaps it would be easier (taking a cue from Pam, Royall, Wyatt and others to just use one specific thread to track our progress for any who might be interested.
Exciting things are beginning to happen. Hopefully, noticeable (in pic form) progress weekly.

Last weekend we installed the roof on the tractor/utility shed. This is important, as the south roof will be home to 36 PV's for our solar electric system. I'd like to get the solar installed and functioning so we can build with minimum generator noise.

Pictures of this work at: http://community.webshots.com/album/468915553RbjdnV/10

Expect to start erecting walls to house in a few more days.

Note - this is not a conventional home, but utilizes the ProTEC wall system and Galvamet roofing system supplied by Castleblock (my Puna connection Smile )

Enjoy
David

Hi David, thanks for bringing us up to date on your project. I remember the first few pics of your septic and the hand injury ouch!! lol You have come such a distance from there and how proud you must be.

I would really enjoy pictures of the Protec wall system and galvamet roofing when they begin to go up. This would be so informative.

Hello to Sophie too. Aloha, Mella L

Since posting this new thread we did get the catchment tanks (4X4K gallons) placed into their new home, just didn't get to do the pics and such linked before our Honolulu trip. No plumbing hooked in, no gutters to funnel the rain yet. Pics of the process can be seen using the above link.
Another major task partially completed Smile

David you have a tank farm there that BP or EXXON would be proud of! ;>) A lot of work but it looks like it is all well worth it. I think setting them below grade was a great idea.

Thanks Royall. The more we look, the more we feel we made the right decision and picked the right location. Gonna have a lot of trenching to do - oh well, more justification for buying the tractor. I figure by the time the house is done, it will have paid for itself. Sophie says it already has.

WE HAVE WALLS!!!!

OK, please pardon the exaggeration. Actually, it is one wall, but with both corners and 2 styles of window framing. This is our very first exterior ProTEC wall - 15 more to go!!!. Built under the watchful guidance and professional assistance of our own Rob Tucker in his Castleblock role.

David,

And What a wall it is!! Thanks for the pictures they are great and give people ideas too.

One question, can protec walls be done on post on pier foundations? Curious if the weight would be a problem. Mahalo, Mella

Thanks - visible progress is sooooo rewarding Smile

Pam, sure was great seeing you guys up our neck of the woods.... By all accounts, the dance was a HUGE success. The King &Queen were HS sweethearts who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniveersary. A glance around the crowd could have provided an answer to the social questions expressed in other threads - a great mix from local born and raised to a vacationing couple just an hour off the plane. Great fun. I suspect, we'll do it again next year.

Mella
Sure can. You can find all the specs/info on http://www.tclear.com/
You have to "dig" around as I can't seem to pull a direct url . Start by clicking on SIP.
