Someone sent me this e-mail and I just had to post it here!
"Did anyone else notice the weather prediction for Hilo on this site?
Saturday Night
Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Numerous showers. Light snow accumulations. Lows 51 to 71. Light winds. Chance of rain 70 percent. "
Snow?!? What are they smoking at the weather service?"

They must mean Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa -- that's the only thing that makes sense.

John and John,
I posted that originally on the form from the other side of the island. I regularly check the weather forcast for Hilo on that forum. It somehow makes me feel closer to "home" since I live off the island. I saw the "snow" and laughed out loud. My guess is that their are standard prases that the weather people put in, and somebody hit the wrong code and "snow" appeared.

I just checked and as I write this, "snow" is still predicted on the konaweb weather page.

John, I checked weatherunderground.com (the link the other site uses) and they must have revised Saturdays prediction, but Sunday now looks even more ominous -
Sunday Night
Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. Numerous showers. Heavy snow accumulations. Lows 51 to 72. Light winds. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Get you skis & snowboards waxed now!

That would explain it! When I posted a question on Konaweb regarding Mt. View, several members there emailed me as to how dreadful the weather is on the east side. But now I understand their concern, "Snowforest" as opposed to "rainforest"? LOL, or maybe they have a bad source..just maybe.
Take care,
dave
