so sorry to hear this catmando. that is a huge loss. nothing seems to stop these thieves. they even robbed the cat sanctuary up there while the lady was there asleep, rolled her car out and off they went. watch craig's list but you just joined the club of all of us who have been ripped off. sorry....

That's not so bad.
Before I moved to Hawaii I would occasionally read police reports in the local (mainland) paper that listed items missing in a time range like:

Between December 1982 and May 1984

Once it was for chickens.
(really)

Why should that be a problem? Can't a person go on vacation without having their entire estate hauled away, for fawks sake?

My sympathies, catmando.

Christ, there must be a lot of worthless, thieving cruds roaming this island.

And I'm sure Mitch Roth will see this as more social media hysteria, nothing to be upset about.

But seriously, this was a massive clean-out that couldn't be done in a vacuum. Somebody somewhere saw something or knows something, but whether the local police detectives can sort it out remains to be seen.

more social media hysteria

Nope -- "privately owned" roads were involved, so it doesn't even rise to the level of "social media".

Would engraving items very visibly reduce this theft?

If GPS tracking were hidden in items, would the cops act on the location data?

Could a bait house or bait car be effective?
