since when is County "developer-friendly"?

Pinkston said he's been a developer for 40 years and has never seen such a development-friendly environment.

"We are so appreciative of the county and the municipalities," he said. "They have just been outstanding. It's a breath of fresh air to deal with the County of Hawaii."

I think this is called "sucking up" to the county and trying to convince merchants that you will eventually build something when you've had several false starts and wildly unrealistic time frames for construction. Such exaggerated declarations do not bode well for accurate announcements going forward.

Yes, it almost sounds like some ridiculously exaggerated twitter accounts.
As such, the developer's statement could be twitterized as:

Really, really great County! Puna Kai opening soon & winning!!!

I read there was a Dunkin Donuts planned. Someone told me recently there isn't one on the Big Island. I hadn't noticed, I thought they were everywhere!
I guess this explains why you see people with boxes of the stuff on flights.

No doubt they will open in Kona near Costco.

This might finally produce some police presence in the immediate area.

The County can be very user friendly.... I've seen it before when there
is a lot of corporate money flowing. Funny thing that.
Assume the best and ask questions.

When I lived on Maui, a west side McDonald's went up lickety split. The only holdup was a six week wait with Maui Electric due to their backlog. I overheard a phone conversation where a McD's rep offered "Courtesy Coupons" to someone at the utility, and the power was on in days. I don't think the "coupons" were for free milkshakes.

The Donner Party really wasn't that great of a party, was it?
