Wife and I went up to Fern Acres to comfort our friend Helen who's son was shot last night in Vegas. He was with his wife celebrating their 20th anniversary at the concert. He's still in the emergency room....but he's expected to make a full recovery

I don't think that a silencer would have made things much worse. People started running for cover when they started getting sprayed with blood from people on either side getting hit. The band even kept playing for a while after the shooting started. There are scenarios where a silencer would have made things much worse. This was not one of them. Hillary damaged her credibility by making such an illogical statement. FYI I agree with reasonable gun control laws. I don't think that acquiring a silencer on the black market or building one yourself would actually be that difficult. The deterrent is the stiff prison sentence if you get caught with one. This guy clearly didn't care about that. Plus as already mentioned silencers silence the muzzle blast only. If the bullet is subsonic that can really mean something but if the bullet is traveling 3 times the speed of sound it means almost nothing. Another way in which someone ignorant or disdainful of the physics of firearms can make their ignorance known to the general public. Again I am pretty much pro gun control. To that end people ought not to say stuff that's going to undermine that goal.

So I see all this talk about the suppressor thing. Hear is the real deal about that topic.......if he wanted one he could have had one for about 150 bucks. Just go on line and look at the SOLVENT TRAP KITS. ATF if finally cracking down on those, but they are still readily available. Just drill out the holes and you are good to go. Things are crazy and bad dudes always get around the laws. Check out YouTube on those kits. They lessen the decibels on par with a commercial suppressor you buy under a federal tax stamp.

Aloha goes out to ‘ninth island’ after mass shooting

"Mayor Caldwell’s statement said, in part, that “Hawaii’s connection to Las Vegas is strong and we send our heartfelt aloha to our ‘Ninth Island’ during this difficult time.”

The two communities — one surrounded by water that outlaws gambling and the other a landlocked city that embraces its “Sin City” reputation — have had a special relationship for generations. The bond was inspired in part by Sam Boyd, who lived and worked in Hawaii in the 1930s before going on to found the California Hotel and Boyd Gaming.

Untold numbers of island residents trained in the hospitality industry have been recruited over the years to resorts and casinos in Las Vegas, where land and homes are much cheaper but the temperatures more extreme. "
