Is gambling illegal? Since when? Remarkable in a touristy place.
Or do they have them on other islands?
Or do they have them on other islands?
Why are there no casinos in Hawaii?

It is illegal and has been since about forever as far as I know. There is, I would say, general agreement that gambling is not wanted here.

Sure Gambling is legal... if you work for the FBI or Police (see here) [][]
Gambling goes on all the time here in Hawaii... Cock Fights, Dog Fights, Office Pools, etc... It's not legal though. I sure wish they would allow a lottery though... Sure could fund a lot of school programs. It's been a hot topic in Hawaiiin the past. Here are the current State Statutes on gambling. ------- General Election Unofficial Poll

As soon as a government figures out how to get a cut, they'll legalize anything.

Good answer Damon!
I don't really want to live anywhere with big glitzy casinos and all of the mess that come with them. I guess they could put one in Kona and it would not break my heart. Aloha au i Hawai`i, devany Devany Vickery-Davidson East Bay Potters www.eastbaypotters.com

Lottery would be a much more viable opportunity to get revenue for schools. setting my soul free....

During my friend's "hold em" game, the players were wondering about the legality of their little gathering. So my friend called the police station and asked if poker was legal. The cop replied that it was , as long as there wasn't a "house".............................
My friend than asked; " You mean we have to play outside?".[]

Thanks for the Kona recommendation, but we don't really want those casinos here either. I can see gambling boats here but that's about it.

We were just in Holland, and it was interesting that while casinos were apparently legal, there were very few in evidence (people too distracted by the other vices legal in Amsterdam apparently...)
